My name is Alex Marootian, I was a board member of the George Washington University Fashion and Business Association: editor-in-chief of our annual print magazine George VI and Podcast Director for After Hours. Now, when I’m not selling The Row and Loewe, I’m either writing long term fashion analysis on my Substack Manufacturing Cuntent or posting fashion content on my Tiktok under YohjicadoAvocado. Read my substack, watch my TikTok, read my George articles.

Based in Boston.

Graduated from George Washington University with a BA in Political Science & French Language, Culture and Literature.

Studied abroad in Paris through Academic Programs Abroad and Paris X: Nanterre.

At GW, I learned how to write policy briefs, present complex research papers and perform decisive media analysis. Topics ranged from the implications of US foreign policy on the MENA region to analyzing the legacy of French colonialism in 1970s Senegal through my analysis of Djibril Diop Mambety’s Touki Bouki.

I loved learning about political realities, and learning about French culture and literature. I hope to combine these two passions through my writing, exploring media with a knowledge of politics and politics through the lens of media, fashion and culture.

I saw and helped create a total transformation of the GW Fashion and Business Association (GWFBA). As Editor-in-Chief of George VI, I edited every article, helped style every look and consulted with our fantastic team of graphic designers to create our magazine. George VI is my baby, a passion project for myself and all the other amazing creatives that made it the achievement it is.

My very first published fashion article, A Look Into Avant Garde was a blatant fan letter to Eugene Rabkin and the other indomedable fashion writers and critics I grew to love. In George VI, I got to interview Mr. Rabkin along with innovator Alessia Righi Amante of Italian cult label Carpe Diem. I hope it’s not the last time I get to meet my fashion heros.

As Podcast Director of After Hours, I got to build something from the ground up, being both leader and co-host of the podcast while learning in real time how to podcast on both ends of the camera.

After graduating with a degree in fashion design, I’ve gone on to work in luxury retail while maintaining my presence as a writer on Substack and as a Tiktok micro micro micro influencer through my social media content.
